BARBARA CREAMER With a degree in Sociology and Child Development, Barbara has a wealth of experience in administration, strategic planning, community program and business development in both the public and private sectors. She is a believer in the power of groups and is excited about joining forces with Joyce and Sophie to raise awareness and elicit change in how patients with primary hyperparathyroid disease are diagnosed and treated. Barbara has been married to her husband for 40 wonderful years and together raised two children. Their home is filled with the boundless energy of a career change dog from Guide Dogs. With improved health, Barbara was able to train for and complete a 5k run after recovering. Something she never dreamed possible. Currently she practices yoga, attends Hula classes 4 hours per week and plays pickle ball to stay fit.
JOYCE ARNON is a former infectious disease epidemiologist with a Master’s degree in Public Health and undergraduate degrees in biology and German literature. Joyce is grateful for having received the diagnosis of primary hyperparathyroidism and having had surgery fairly early in the course of the illness, and wants to see diagnostic awareness and accuracy improve for the many people who suffer with this condition for years before being diagnosed. Joyce has been married for almost 30 years and lives in the San Francisco East Bay with her husband. They have two grown children, a son and a daughter. In her free time she enjoys travel, swimming, hiking, and getting together with friends and family.
SOPHIE FREEDMAN, originally from France, came to the United States in 1990 to attend Graduate School. Upon graduating she was offered a job in San Francisco and so began her long love story with Northern California that she called home for nearly 27 years. She is married, has two children, and they now live in Scottsdale, AZ. After working in IT for many years Sophie launched her own IT Consulting company I.T. Works Finance in 2010. She is an independent Yardi consultant who helps real estate companies convert to or run Yardi software. As Sophie had such a difficult time with obtaining a diagnosis, she is now passionate about telling her story to help others. When she is not working she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling. She is passionate about working out whether jogging, spinning or swimming.
